Temple Israel in Kinston, North Carolina, is a Reform Jewish synagogue in rural eastern NC. While once a vibrant Southern Jewish community, only a few members remain. Nevertheless, we are a warm and welcoming group and encourage visitors to join us for our monthly lay-lead Shabbat services, High Holy Day services, and other holiday programs. All are welcome to join us for these programs and services.
We usually have services on the second Shabbat evening of every month at 6:30 pm. Please note that this is subject to change to accommodate holidays and special services. Contact us by the email or phone below to verify the time of the service for that particular month.
Upcoming Services and Events in 2023
Services at Temple Israel are free and open to members and non-members. We have plenty of room in our main sanctuary for social distancing. We kindly request that you have your COVID booster shots or wear your masks to keep yourself and others in our small community safe! Any questions or concerns? Contact Lay Leader Carla Zimmerman at synagoguekinstonnc@gmail.com.
We will also have a Google Meet link for those who would like to tune in remotely. See old friends! Sing along as if no one is listening (because they won't be if you are on mute)! Please send a request for the link to synagoguekinstonnc@gmail.com.
Friday, January 21 at 7:00 pm
Sunday, February 5 at 2:00 pm - Tu B'Shvat Seder. Come celebrate trees! Please let us know if you will attend, so we can have enough nuts, fruits, and wine for all.
Friday, February 24 at 7:00 pm. Email synagoguekinstonnc@gmail.com for a link to join virtually.
Sunday, March 5 at 3:00 pm - Purim Shpiel. Join us for our annual skit based the Book of Esther. Bring a box of mac and cheese for your grogger to be donated to the Kinston Food Bank after the event. And don't forget your costume! It'll be a hoot!
